We learned of Jim and Dovercraft from our neighbors who as seniors also were very impressed with Jim and his company’s professional approach, and consideration for their needs. We hired Jim to design and build a ‘sunroom’ for us. It has become our favorite room in our home. His knowledge of accessibility issues for seniors, attention to details, and the professional approach to all aspects of the process has been a wonderful experience. His sub-contractors were of the same caliber, gentlemen all.
We were so pleased that we had Jim do modifications in our bathroom to make it more accessible and safe. We would highly recommend Jim and Dovercraft to anyone who wants an excellent job at a fair price.
We are moving from a larger house to a smaller one and wanted to have the kitchen totally gutted and remodeled before we moved in. We hired Dovercraft and could not be happier! Their work is exceptional. Everyone from the owner, foreman, and sub-contractors took pride in doing a good job. Their work was done on schedule and to perfection. I never had to ask twice for something to be done, as it was usually addressed the very next day. These guys are gems. We could not be happier.
The Wellesley Historical Society has relied on Dovercraft to take care of all of the structural issues at the Dadmun-McNamara House. Dovercraft has been remarkably attentive and thoughtful about all the issues that our 1824 building regularly poses.

You did a fantastic job on the barn at a fair price, and will get many more jobs out of it for historic restoration, I have no doubt. A friend from Dover saw the barn from dismantling in NH, to re-assembly here in Wellesley. He wants you to do his house. I look forward to working with you on our next projects on the main house soon
I had the chance to meet Jim, the owner of Dovercraft Inc. at a social event. In speaking with him about a project I wanted to do at my home, Jim explained what the Dovercraft philosophy is on quality, workmanship, and attention to detail. I entered into a contract with Dovercraft soon after our initial meeting.
Before any work had started I had the chance to meet the various sub-contractors personally: electrician, plumbing, heating, HVAC, asbestos removal, chimney removal, carpenters and oil tank removal people. I also received insurance information for liability and workman compensation coverage for his employee’s. All permits were in place. The contract stated the Dovercraft HIC license number, all work to be done, price, models numbers and time to be completed. There were additions to the contract at my request. The contract was updated for materials, time, and cost via a written schedule and change orders for each request that I made with the cost for each change.
Jim answered all my questions and was one day off the scheduled finish date, not his fault, it snowed 10 inches the day the chimney was to be removed. His crew treated my mother with such kindness. The site was cleaned up every day. At the end of the project Jimmy sent in a professional cleaning crew. I wish every general contractor was as professional as Jim and his crew from Dovercraft.
My professional relationship began after hearing from a neighbor what a competent and reliable contractor he was, and seeing his ad in the Wellesley Townsman which referred to his work on “This Old House” on PBS. I hired Jim and his company to remodel 6 of the 13 rooms in my 100 year old house.
During this remodel, I was favorably impressed with both Jim’s and his crew’s attention to detail and his concern for budget.
Subsequently, having had such a professionally joyful first experience with Dovercraft, now with complete confidence I initiated a complex and challenging project that included a half-million dollar indoor pool construction and kitchen remodel. It is to Jim’s credit that he assumed a greater role, not only as contractor but also as manager of the group of ten engineering consultants vital to this project.
In the decades since I have engaged Jim and his exemplary Dovercraft team to General Contract two more whole house remodels in Cambridge Ma. , for me. Each was a historic home with their own set of challenges and complexities. With both I had a thoughtfully and professionally run project from demolition to landscape.
I’m really enjoying my new kitchen! You did a wonderful job and all of you were great to work with.
Thank you! You and your fantastic team of pros really did the job. It was a stunning process from beginning to end. Having a ring side seat to it all gave us a clear sense of all the details and hard work that went into our new and improved home. We are left thoroughly impressed with you and the result is a tribute to your working style.
Your continuous generosity along the way was not lost on us. We can’t say enough positive things about our experience. Our house now has a more healthy and peaceful vibe. You made a big difference in our lives and our daily peace and happiness. We know we will be in touch in the future.
