I had the chance to meet Jim, the owner of Dovercraft Inc. at a social event. In speaking with him about a project I wanted to do at my home, Jim explained what the Dovercraft philosophy is on quality, workmanship, and attention to detail. I entered into a contract with Dovercraft soon after our initial meeting.
Before any work had started I had the chance to meet the various sub-contractors personally: electrician, plumbing, heating, HVAC, asbestos removal, chimney removal, carpenters and oil tank removal people. I also received insurance information for liability and workman compensation coverage for his employee’s. All permits were in place. The contract stated the Dovercraft HIC license number, all work to be done, price, models numbers and time to be completed. There were additions to the contract at my request. The contract was updated for materials, time, and cost via a written schedule and change orders for each request that I made with the cost for each change.
Jim answered all my questions and was one day off the scheduled finish date, not his fault, it snowed 10 inches the day the chimney was to be removed. His crew treated my mother with such kindness. The site was cleaned up every day. At the end of the project Jimmy sent in a professional cleaning crew. I wish every general contractor was as professional as Jim and his crew from Dovercraft.
